Sober is a story project that started in 2020 that features themes around moving on, freeing oneself from exploitation, learning how to become human, and finding purpose in passion. This project's setting is very influenced by our homeland, Indonesia. Starting as a stupid stick-figure ship that turned into a galactic mess, OVER is responsible for most of the artwork and anon helps with the storybuilding. The lore still has a lot of holes, but OVER feels that this story means a lot, if it could reach people. The main story revolves around Jett and Vent, characters that are in search of acceptance in the midst of a bitter land, but Jett gets overtaken by greed and sets the fate that Vent will always die. This affects the other variants;universes fate, rendering themselves not meant to be. Would they accept fate as it is, or would they fight against it?

"A dream can be inferred to as a Flower that blooms during one's sleep. It is called as 'Bunga Tidur'. In our everyday life, dreams can be an omen, motivation, a foreseeing through things that seem invisible. A resolution. In this world, humanity has lost the passion to create and abandoned all forms of conveying. That's what a pessimist says. Truthfully, art has never stopped being born. It is only left suppressed, and soon enough it will begin to collapse, explode, and litter the world with creation that people hate; true expression."

I firstly want to show sober as a contemporary commentary about creating and pursuing art in a place that looks down on it. It challenges concepts with the motivation to create art, puritanism, motherhood, self expression and many more topics that i want the audience to conclude by themself. The main message is to keep creating art, and to get behind what’s keeping your claws retracted. The birth of passion being seen as a sin, pursuing art perceived as throwing away your life.

• REALITY CLUB

  The moment i got into Reality Club (2021), i was introduced into the aesthetic of Corporate-night scheme(heavy on this one)-sexy sexy resentment-memory gouging from one of their album, What Do You Really Know?. Reality Club is an Alternative Indie rock band originating from Indonesia, and although i don't quite listen to their newer music, i still appreciate the band for how long they’ve kept up with its rising popularity. Now this album and its lyric/music videos really, really got me into liking Red a lot lot. I’ve only gone to watch their concert once, as the only 14 year old in the bar they held the concert in. This album’s genre is just very unheard of to me. Especially i would say that it’s a ‘hidden gem’ that was shared. Their lyrics are something to appreciate, it is none like others. My favorite from this album comes down to either ‘Vita o Morte’ or ‘SSR’ because they’re really unique. I cant deny that they really affected the atmospheres i draw. Their MVs are just something i find appealing in the night.

  2112 is also pretty much a catapult for jettvent to rise and make them stay with me. I’ve always wanted to make a 2112 pv for them, but as the way I write them changes over time, i’ve been trying to find more accurate ways to represent them with this song. This song also serves partly as their character foundation? Jan being a corporate slave, and so is jett. I have clearer ideas now, so hopefully I can make it confidently.

• REVUE STARLIGHT

  

  I found Revue Starlight in September of 2023. Introduced by the game Re-Live, the short meeting with it already has me on its hook. My first impression of this franchise is that it looked very serious on what its trying to tell, in a beautiful way. Revue tells and shows to us, that stories that should never die. Setting your passion on fire, Stepping on the next stage, Finding, grappling, reaching, stealing the destined star. That’s pretty much what revue starlight is about.

  “Revues are Song and dance woven into a mesmerising play. To whoever puts on the brightest brilliance to shine in a revue, will open the path to becoming a top star. Normal happiness, the joys of youthful girls…They will burn it all to aim for a distant glimmer. That is what it means to be a stage girl.”

  The desires for what you achieve, being turned away for the sake of conformity. Protecting one story, to never grow out of it and trapping everyone else in it. Escaping from promises and admiring each other turns into stealing each other’s brilliance. Killing yourself to be reborn as a Stage Girl, to burn away all the past to set to the new stage. Not only from kukugumi, but Bgumi and stage girls from other schools other than Seisho (specially Frontier and Rinmeikan) has taken a lot of parts in the inspiration for sober. The abolishment of the art/performance department, the cutting costs and fake dream of pursuing art. Even though the main art form that sober portrays is 2d/3d art, i still feel that what Revstar displays can be applied not only towards the industry in theatre, but it speaks for many art forms. That’s the beauty of Revue Starlight to me, and I take in most of the part about what creating means.

• THE GODDESS OF EVERYTHING ELSE

  

  This is from a short animation i found. What i take from it as inspiration is the main setting and the two gods (cancer, and everything else). The imperative (KILL, CONSUME, MULTIPLY, CONQUER) is what i input as the ‘desire’ in every character, but some suppress, repress, or some conceal it in a way. Jiwa’s motives align with the Goddess of Everything Else, although very much more subtle. Ana goes the same with the Goddess of cancer.
